If your dog’s vet recommends for your dog to stay out of class, we will offer One (1) make up class based on class maximum capacity.

WE REQUIRE VETERINARIAN NOTE/PROOF OF ILLNESS OR RECOMMENDATION YOUR DOG MISS ONE CLASS. email to info@hudsonbarks.com

If your dog is not feeling well the day of his/her class, the parent/handler can attend the class without their dog.

 Arrive on time

Better yet, try to get there a few minutes early to give your dog a chance to eliminate outside. If we are not preparing (setting up, cleaning, sanitizing) for the next class, we may welcome you earlier to wait inside in the event of extreme cold, heat, rain or snow.

 Equipment.

Flat leather or nylon collar & flat leash (we prefer flat over rope leashes), harness is a must, and treat pouch.

NO retractable leashes. NO aversive tools such as: choke chains, prong, pinch or shock collars.

 Be present for your dog.

Dress for success! pure comfort, including rubber sole shoes. We ask all humans to banish the cell phones for the duration of the class. Emergency calls do happen, please lure your pup outside with you for phone calls.

Try your best to engage to digest the learning process to prepare your doggie and yourself for success for your practice at home.

 Keep your dog motivated

Please be responsible for monitoring your dog at all times, especially if a group (like puppy socials) include off leash play groups.

In addition to a potty time for your doggie before class, exercise him/her a bit specially if she/he tends to bounce of the wall with energy.

To keep your dog motivated during class, withhold food and treats to deliver those for attention and behaviors in class. Use his meal during class. Hungry dogs will be more motivated to pay attention and train and class will be full of distractions.

Bring treats your dog really likes, not treats you feel your dog should like.

Bring a treat pouch and treats.

Bring variety treats, you’ll need ‘em! treats should be as small as a pea and soft. Unlike hard treats, soft treats will prevent your dog from choking and small pieces ensure your dog won’t fill up before class is over (each dog varies).

Cheese and meats work great! (the treats need to be more appealing than all the other people and dogs in the room).

When not to bring your dog to class.

If you have chosen your dog not be spayed before she enters her first heat cycle, do not bring her to class during estrus. Please don’t bring your dog to class when he/she is sick. That wont be any fun for them and might get the other dogs sick.

+++Attend the class without your dog, you will still get a lot out of class and be able to practice and keep up with the lessons and homework.

How many human per dog should attend class (including kids).  SEE COVID-19 related restrictions.

At this time, ONE HUMAN PER DOG ONLY INSIDE THE PREMISES.

 Note:

If you believe your puppy is sick, please notify us prior to the beginning of class or better, please contact us the day before class to assess for participation for class.

If we are not certain your puppy is healthy to start or resume class, your puppy will not be permitted to attend until he is deemed healthy by a veterinarian. We require Vet documentation.
